Blackwater Brand is now live. The commerce site is full of Blackwater-branded apparel and accessories, with a line of headwear to soon follow. The stuff looks great and features the original, iconic logo.

Seems like they’re more of small merchandise sales in Blackwater logos rather than real tactical brand gears.
I dunno. I expected something more than mugs and t-shirts. Especially by their controversial name.
I support what Blackwater did and feel they got a bum rap over the years but now…what’s the point of this other than wearing their stuff to hurt some hippies feelings?
I used to work there, so for me, it’s cool to be able to pick something up.
I saw you there a few months ago at the Leupold demo.
Yeah, I live nearby and make it down a couple of times a year.
I have to believe that someone came out of the name change / break up holding the trademark and just figured this was a good way to throw up an Internet store and cash in a few dollars. Nothing wrong with that. The American Way if you ask me.
Yeah, that guy is named Erik Prince.
He was kinda a big deal around Moyock, right? 😉
Yeah
I didn’t see Erik behind something like this. I was leaning more towards one of his people who got the Trademark out of a separation deal. I was told Erik is busy over in Africa.
Erik still owns it and has licensed it to some local guys here in the Tidewater.
Cool bear. SSD, do you know if they have any intentions of producing nylon gear?
I’m not sure.
Back in around ’06-07 there was a partnership between Crye, Blackwater and Uncle Mikes. Crye designed, Blackwater tested and produced by Uncle Mikes under the Blackwater name… or so I read on the inter-web. I’m sure SSD reported on it back in the day. I get a really cheap Blackwater plate carrier in ’07 when it seemed stored were dumping the brand.

It was before I retired and started writing. I’m not sure who owns what as far as the IP.
This is true, I sold their gear, it was medium grade quality, with some innovative designs. I’m pretty sure it started in 05, the line was dumped around 08.

Agreed. The BW equivalent of a Crye blast belt is basically the same design (slightly less refined) and just not as well made.
I STILL have two flight bags filled with the BW stamped Uncle Mikes cold weather gear we were issued for years. One day I will get around to doing something with it.
2015 and no shipping to Australia? Oh well…
Still have a “Original” hat and sticker from taking a class there some time ago….Shirts wore out years ago….
And now you can replace the shirt.
Here’s some Cliff Claven gear trivia for the geeks in the room…
Q: Blackwater Gear, made ICW Uncle Mike’s was sewn where?
A: Philippines, in the same factory Camelbak gets its products sewn.
Now you too possess useless knowledge, go forth and impress no one…
