Well since MSM already found the “Real” Urban Grey, it’s great to have Propper set out to find the “True” Urban Grey.

Which, to establish tone a bit better, MSM did an exceptional job as first mover.
I’ve updated the article to reflect that Propper is using MilSpec Monkey’s work and combining it with their own.
Much obliged. Any apologies on any misunderstanding on my part.
And yet, Propper acknowledged MSM’s work in the first few lines.
Not originally.
I think LBT’s MAS Grey is one of the most versatile shades out there, and isn’t as blue as “Wolf” grey. Too bad it’s not more widely used.
LBT Mas Grey on 550d looks quite green to me.
MAS Grey actually belongs to SOCOM
this whole subject fall into the grey area… better grey? really? I believe the Navy tried this in WWII… with breaking up the profile of the ships…
+1 for the Mas Grey
The best MS Monkey and/or others are going to do is Steingrau Oliv (stone-grey olive used by the Bundeswehr and Austrian Army) or the brown-grey Tan 499 in OCP. Grey with any blue in it is not going to work as camouflage (see UCP).
See ABU
I’d only seen that colour on BW garments and often wondered if it had a name. Thx for the explanation.
Thanks for that. I’ve just done a bit of looking and found the RAL is 7013.
Was the same shade used for tanks and clothing?
Dave, I remember Bundeswehr vehicles in the 90’s as being grey-green. Whether they were RAL 7013 just as the uniforms, I can’t say, but they were close.
The FBI HRT (which may have done some urban ops) have been photographed in Crye ranger green gear. Ranger green is almost the same or is the same as Steingrau Olive (RAL 7013) I mentioned above.
I am not sure about the “urban” bit. I believe it was in “The Jungle Is Neutral” by Spencer Chapman I was reading that elephants can be an absolute pig to spot. Something the size of an elephant! In the ‘wrong’ colour!
Ähm… “Its not about trends. Its about what works best.”

Obviously the european experts are already there for years, where Propper and MSM would like to be in the future.
Looks very similar in color to RG but with a very minimal hint of Coyote.
People keep looking for the ultimate urban color when it exists; RG.
It also has the advantage of blending fairly well into some wooded and a wide range of mountainous areas.
