Even though that Nikwax might be better for down I use “Sportswash” for all functional clothing. Their products are more focused on tactical/hunting users.
I also have a dedicated machine so there is no risk of getting brighteners in the clothing.

Use Rockin Green soap for fleece and softshells and down and pretty much everything else. It’s clean-rinsing and doesn’t use optical brighteners – and they offer a military discount.
