Friends often ask me what I use for historical reference. Well aside from a failing memory, I own a lot of books. With the recent interest in Jungle clothing and equipment, I highly recommend the book, “Jungle SNAFUs…And Remedies” by Cresson H Kearney Maj, USA (Ret). It tells the story of WWII jungle warfare development.
The book has a website with sample chapters.
EXCELLENT book-very well sourced too for further research and reference.
This is a great book. Maj Kearny was a great guy.
My Grandfather was in Korea, and he greatly appreciated this book. When my brothers and I were little, he gave us a copy and explained how it would teach problem-solving.
That’s a cool story.
I remember Cresson Kearny’s “Nuclear War Survival Skills”. He was a very systematic l tinkerer-inventor, backed up with a solid scientific education, and practical experience.
Gonna have to add this book to my collection..
next up on the list of books i need to read
