Black Powder Red Earth Board Game Under Development

This might look like a collection of Legos to you, but it turns out this is a great way to design a board game according to ‘Black Powder, Red Earth‘ creator Jon Chang because you can quickly reconfigure the board as you come up with new ideas.  In this case, it’s the BPRE board game , in beta.   They plan to begin limited testing in the NYC area in March with a possible future crowdfunding campaign.  If this is as much fun as the graphic novels, I’m in.  Next up, the video game.

Why do Americans say ‘Legos’ when referring to Lego bricks?

wow, that is about the greatest prototyping idea ever. surprised I’ve never seen it before.
Curious to see how it translates.

The graphic novels were excellent and honestly if the plan is later hatched to make a video game out of it, I would love to see it directed and produced by Telltale games.

Didn’t BPRE guys were working in an isometric view shooting game? I remember some pics in their Facebook a while ago

We are working on a isometric action game as well. This board game is actually the original prototype for the video game, polished from a proof of concept to a complete experience 🙂

I will say, we’re not trying to dive into the minutiae of moment to moment small unit tactics like Squad Leader. We have built a faster paced game with elements derived from training programs we participated in and helped to develop over the past 5 years 🙂

IIRC, BP/RE was originally going to be an isometric tactical game on Mars. Then the setting was changed to the Middle East, the FB game launched, the comics rolled out, and now we’re getting the board game.
