The Wind Cheater is a durable yet breathable lightweight shell made with Duro Ambush with DWR treatment, which provides protection from light precipitation. The Wind Cheater also compresses well for storage, and is flexible, with a longer tail that will keep the wearer’s lower back and seat covered.
The Wind Cheater sports a number of features that benefit the overall functionality of the shell. The articulated hood is sized to fit over a helmet, and includes rear bungee retention, which allows the wearer to adjust it to their optimal size. Both sleeves feature zippered bicep pockets, FS’ low-profile Velcro attachment panels, and adjustable cuffs. Pit zips on either side of the Wind Cheater offer improved airflow and ventilation at the user’s discretion. The Wind Cheater also has two large-sized zippered torso pockets.

I understand that the garment’s “athletic” cut precludes the need for a 2 way front zipper but it’ll be really really really nice if it had one.
I’m just musing here, but how difficult would it be to add one via a local tailor?
I should really find out and I’m hazarding a guess it shouldn’t be too difficult.
That said it should be preferably not needed post purchase.
That’s my only gripe for (admittedly unrelated product) the Atom LT by Arc’teryx.
I believe I’ve been looking for this exact jacket to replace my multicam wind shell.
Is it possible to order without the velcro field on the arm?
It’s not (I called and asked when they first came out) but a few seconds with a knife fixes that right up.

I still like the utility of the arm pockets, I just don’t wear my patches day-to-day.

Made by First Spear for HPG. Couple differences (see website) including no Velcro. Been eyeing one myself.
This is the one that works with the coyote ruff from Hill people gear right? I think HPG and First Spear have a working relationship….is this correct?
They are both made by first pea but the ruff only works with the HPG model.
Actually to be pedantic their origins are actually from Norwegian NFM.
Love my black one but crazy amount of fray inside the hand pockets. I hope they fixed that issue (keep in mind my jacket is probably first lot production…)
It’s not a defect, it’s free ghillie! Mine has it as well, current versions do to last I checked.
They are moving/have moved to US manufacture on these, so one would hope to see an improvement in areas like that.
I have this in grey and it’s a great jacket but it’s not great for conceal carry draw as it’s a close fit around waist area so a draw takes some practice for OWB carry. IWB would not be an issue.
