Last week, I was wearing one of the hats seen in the photo and a friend asked me about it. While I’ve been known to wear a cool hat when I get one, my own hats are a different kind of Kuhl.
Most often, if you see me wearing a hat, it’s a Kuhl Strand Cap modified with a Velcro pile patch embroidered with the SSD logo. I really like the fit of this runner-style cap which accommodates earpro quite nicely. Additionally, it’s easy to tighten the fit of the cap during high winds thanks to the cam buckle.
I’ve been wearing Kuhl caps for many years and they come in several models including the Strand, Uberkuhl, softshell Renegade and Renegade. Kuhl also offers Women’s models. They are available in a variety of colors which change through the seasons so you’ll need to check their site for availability.

I love Kühl hats; thanks for turning me on to them!
I really like the color choices that Kuhl offers.
I’ve had a brand of hat I’ve used for years too, they’re called headsweats. Their claim to fame is they have a terrycloth type band to sop up the sweat. If you sweat like it’s going out of style like I tend to do, it’s a nice feature. Mainly though, they seem focused on running, racing style hats, and sadly it’s not often that a nice subdued color comes along, other than grey or black. But their race caps are built very much like the kuhl, and with no button on the top, makes it earpro friendly too.
All that being said, I’m getting in need of a new hat, the old one is looking rather ratty, might just give the kuhl brand a try. Good timing SSD.
No Strands on their site. Maybe the Renegade?
“… friekd adked me…”
Kuhl one!
Looks like Travis R !?
looking good!
Just ordered the Uberkuhl in Nomad Khaki. Is there any way we “mere mortals” can get the loop patch with the SSD Logo?
The people who did it for me said, “never again!”
Thanks for the reply
