That is just the common slatwall system painted black, and marked up twice the price.
Correct. Also with the word “tactical” added – that’s where the value comes from.
Does the “common slat wall” have dedicated mounts for weapons and armor? And will “common slat wall” support the weight?
“Dedicated” no. Improvised surely and yes a common slat wall will hold the weight.
You can improvise anything, if you want it to look like shit. You can also make most things, if you have the time and talent. Or…you can buy them from someone who makes them for a living.
Don’t get mad SSD; criticizing a product you feature isn’t criticism of you or your site. These are just passing comments, not attempts to start an argument.
I’m not mad, just frustrated. It’s the same old BS. Generally, it’s someone who sees something too expensive for their pocket book or pissed that they didn’t think of it first, so they want to knock it down.
On the other hand, I applaud innovation and small businesses. I also like to see Made in America and I have a soft spot for Veteran owned businesses. Ultimately, the market decides if a product sells and if a business dies, survives or thrives.
Don’t get me wrong, I like tactical wall products. But this is hardly innovation, it is simply taking a product common in one industry, calling it tactical, and, marking it up 100% to sell to the gun industry.
I see it all the time.
They didn’t call it “tactical”, you did. The product name is “ModWall”.
Ok let me rephrase it to “calling it some uber tactical name.”
It is like Riggers Bands, they aren’t anything special, but for the price most places are selling a half dozen to a dozen for you can often buy a huge 1 lb bag from a parachute supply store.
Also most of the slatwalls I’ve seen are made in the US.
The mounts are unique, but the “modwall” is simply a slatwall painted black and cut down to a size that UPS or FedEx will take with the price marked up 100%.
Don’t believe me, search Uline slatwall, they sell a 4’x8′ sheet for the same price as these guys sell a pair of 4’x22″ sheets.
And yes slatwalls will hold a tremendous amount of weight when mounted correctly. I’ve seen the shelf brackets fail before the wall does.
This is all very appreciated feedback. Just wanted to make a point of clarification. What we are making is definitely not standard slat wall painted black. We are custom milling US sourced HDPE plastic in house to our specs. The benefit there is that the HDPE will stand up to oil and solvents much better than melamine which standard slat wall is made out of. We also have developed a bunch of proprietary attachments that are specific to firearms and related accessories. Hope this is helpful.
Thanks for responding Chris. Great American made product!
These guys put out some nice stuff and I don’t see their prices as ridiculous. Sure it’s not garage sale prices but then again it’s not garage sale stuff.
Wife and I are remodeling bath and closet area. I am incorporating some of their stuff in closet area
Like the company, love the people behind it, glad to see their stuff getting more attention across the industry and marketplace.
I personally like the product and since PCS season is coming up I will be investing in this to organize my firearms, I’ve tried the do it your left approach from Lowes and just looked like crap and actually probably cost me more than what these folks are askin, so I’m totally sold on it great job.
“It’s MLOK, for your house”
Definitely a valuable upgrade for anybody still running KeyMod based shelving racks.
