Merrell Launches Tactical Line

For decades folks have been wearing Merrell boots for duty as service members, LEOs, First Responders and contractors. Sawtooths, Chameleons and Moabs have been seen around the globe.

Late last year, Merrell set about creating a dedicated line which recently they launched with the Moab 2 in high, mid and low styles. The high and mid versions are waterproof.

SSD readers will love this. Look for sizes 7-15! Plus, the mid and low variants are also offered on wide sizes.

I have a pair of Moab Ventilator Mid in wide width and I say YEEEEESSS I will buy this boots. Hope they dont forget about Wide width

  2. Buckaroomedic says:

This is good news! My Moabs went downrange with me when I was contracting. Wonder if REI will stock this new line? Doubt it.

Definitely going to look into these for work as my current work boots are just about done.

  3. Lucky says:

Problem #1: Side zippers. These cannot be worn, unless you are USAF. Merrell has no plans to remove the side zippers either, according to one of their online customer service critters….

    • SSD says:

I am not a fan of side zippers, people buy them. Since they aren’t available on sage, no one in the Air Force can wear them.

      • EODFish says:

Unless I am completely out of touch with reality, MXers can wear black boots.

  4. WHITNEY C. says:

Another good question is: Will Merrell offer a safety toe, i.e. comp toe or steel toe? This would open up a market for welders, federal employees, and military.

  5. Randy Powell says:

Need size 8 EE but haven’t been able to find wide sizes anywhere. Would love to buy a couple of pair in EE.

  6. Ex11A says:

They had me up until “zipper.” The coyote doesn’t look dark enough for Army work, either. Too bad.

Awesome addition to the Merrell Line.

Moabs are hands down the best-wearing boots out there for the money. With a pair of SuperFeet insoles they outperform boots costing far more.

+1 for dumping that zipper next year. Already ordered the Mids (troopID discount–thanks for that), not going near the 8″.

  8. Max says:

    I’m in love!

  9. JKifer says:

why do people buy zippered “combat” boots…?… its beyond my comprehension..

  10. Mark says:

Hope that they reconsider having the mid variants as waterproof and offer a choice.

I still have a set of Sawtooths that I am going to send to Dave Page in Seattle to see if he can do some rebuild on them.

    • JKifer says:

I as well had a pair of sawtooths… awesome boots, served me very well.. Mark, if that works out well for you, and you can remember would you send me the info via SSD? Mine are pretty tore up..

  11. Jeremy says:

I like the design but get rid of the zipper. Between working with the military and police work too many co workers had zipper blow outs jumping off vehicles etc. Also when will they be available in Canada?
