I ran into my old friend Clayton aka Mil Spec Monkey at Triggrcon. He’s always got lots of irons on the fire, but this one is almost ready to go.
Based on the success of his first Tanto-style Knife collaboration with KA-BAR, Mil Spec Monkey is introducing a Drop Point version.
The handle was designed for use with a reverse grip as well as offering lots of purchase for the thumb.
It comes with a 550 cord wrapped handle and injection molded sheath. Coming soon from milspecmonkey.com.

Does the sheath stand-up to the test?

Knife itself looks useful, but…I’m still waiting to read a few accounts of “survival” wherein someone actually saved the day by unwrapping and using a 550 cord knife handle for something other than a handle.
I just like cord handle wraps in general with no special intent as a survival cord backup. That said, if someone got into some shit using the cord to mount it to a spear setup wouldn’t be too crazy.
Cordwraps, if executed properly can make a most excellent knife handle. They also grip well when wet.
The thing about paracord wraps is they can get pretty dirty and gritty after a short time of handling them, and if you get blood or guts on them they are even more of a hassle to clean. And then they can come loose on you as well… not a big fan of paracord wrap handles…
Lookin’ good MSM! I’ll keep an eye out for these.
Im a knife fan and a Montgomery fan so its a happy Tuesday to me !
