One of the hidden gems I found at last month’s Outdoor Retailer Summer Market is the Taiss Light Mid GTX by Mammut.
I spied it as I was walking through their booth but unfortunately, as I didn’t have a media appointment, no one could answer any questions about it.
However, I do know a few things. This Gore-tex lined boot is intended for multipitch rock climbing, via ferrata, classical alpinism, mixed and ice climbing. This means it’s crampon compatible. I also know that it weighs 555g (size 9). It’s built using their Georganic 3D Technology, a three-dimensional cut of the boot, developed directly on the foot. Additionally, it features a carbon fiber missile for rigidity.
This is All-Black model is the Men’s version. The Women’s variant is all White. Imagine a Mid-height mountain boot in all white for use by mountain troops.

It needs to be brown for men, and it definitely needs to available in white for Mountain Troops!
Progress is so incremental in bringing forth the boot for this sector. Will look forward to the details on this becoming available.
