Move over…Surgeon, Defiance, Stiller, GAP, Big Horn, Impact, Lone Peak, Nucleus, Mausingfield, Axiom, Ultimatum, BAT, Stolle, Borden, Curtis, Badger… there might be a new player on deck.
You’re confusing two peoples’ opinions on a rifle action and market saturation for an opinion of Mr. Daniel’s business acumen. I’m sure if it’s a 700 he will sell tons and make a even more money. He could put actual lipstick on an actual pig and people will buy them faster than he can make them. He’s captured the American dream and I applaud him for it. Just because lots of other people will buy it, doesn’t mean the Daves have to be enthusiastic about it.
But it’s not that way at all. The guns you mentioned are all extremely expensive and there’s often a wait. Knowing Daniel Defense, they’ll bring a gun in at the mid-range and have them available.
Expensive is relative in the precision rifle game. We’ve seen influx into our world these past year or two like none other. Is it “expensive” compared to AR15’s…Lord, yes! Right now, several of those makers I listed are trying to put out sub-$1k actions and people are foaming at the mouth for things like the Origin and Nucleus. There’s always going to be a wait, but now you can piece a rifle together in a matter of weeks instead of 18+ months like back in the day.
75% of me hopes Daniel Defense brings something relevant to market. And if they stay in the middle, lower/middle area, they will probably snag some sales and do OK.
The other 25% (if I’m being honest) is delighted to see that with all the people that wanted to say the bolt gun is dead and the semi-auto killed it…to have an AR maker put out a bolt gun would devilishly ironic.
I’m very curious to see what/how they bring this to market and who they intend to target (pun intended) with it. It is an extraordinarily tough market to please.
‘Murica!
Huh, I guess DD is going to be making a bolt action?
Hoping for something new and innovative and not the 7,795,395,027th iteration of the 700 action.
Amen to that!

Yeah, sounds like what people said when DD introduced carbines in 2010. “What’s he thinking? There’s already Colt, Panther Arms and Bushmaster!”

Are the Daves the same guy?
It sounds like the Daves are assimilating and need to be stopped.
No, it’s more like introducing an AR15 now where any combination/color/gimmick you can think of is out and people can be extremely picky.
If they bring something new to the table then great. I’m skeptical of what demographic its supposed to make a splash with.

This is either the ballsiest or dumbest move ever. Marty ain’t scared. That’s for sure.
More guns…it is a good thing.
Diversify or die. With ARs under attack it only makes sense to expand their offerings.
They should be pushing a 260 and 6.5CM platforms as well unless something changed in the past few months.
Ya’ll are all wrong. It’s a new DD Semi-Auto bolt action
I’m thinking optic! They went silencer why not opics too now!?!
I bet it’s just a lighter, more usable suppressor.
