Wilcox Industries Honors Ron Bellan

Retired SOCM Ron Bellan’s recent passing hit a lot of us like a ton of bricks. Our friends at Wilcox Industries have honored Ron by foying their flag half-staff. I’d like to encourage others in industry who worked with Ron over the years to do likewise.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the passing of Navy SEAL Master Chief Ron Bellan. Ron spent his life defending our country and the freedoms we have grown accustomed to. Reaching globally Ron served to protect the oppressed at any cost. Ron was a warrior amongst warriors, a teammate and personal friend. After retiring from serving his country Ron was instrumental in helping raise monies for non-profit organizations and helping veterans in any way he could. Ron unexpectedly passed peacefully in his home due to natural causes that stemmed from a recent surgery. In honor of Ron, the Wilcox HQ Flag will be flown at half-mast today. Please take a moment of your day to reflect on all the people past and present that have sacrificed for our freedom.”

God Bless Ron Bellan’s family and friends, and may he Rest In Peace

Very Respectfully

Dave Kent

  1. In soldarity with Mr Kent and Wilcox Industries, Wild Things Gear, pays deep respect to a Patriots, Patriot.

  2. Very, very sorry to hear this news. A huge loss to everyone who knew and worked with him.

A very sad loss, but we should recall that IAW US Code only the POTUS, a state governor, or the mayor of DC can authorize flying the flag at half staff. Yeah-yeah, “don’t be a rule dick; we’re honoring a warrior”, but think about how quickly you’d start frothing at the mouth if the local mosque did the same whenever there was news of an ISIS fighter killed.

    • Thomas Stickle says:

Well, your being a rule DICK! who cares what the local mosque does they don’t represent our American way of life or cherish freedom as Mr Bellan did. He’s a patriot and above all else an American. If someone wants to honor this man(an American) in America by lowering their American flag to half staff that is their right to do so in his honor. No one needs approval from from the government. This is America!!!!!

      • Nik says:

Local mosque flying a flag if a isis fighter died?.. that means they would support terrorism. I think thats a pretty inappropriate comment. But hey to each his own.

        • Rzz says:

Yes, he is a dick, that code count for government building and flags flown on government land. Not private owned places. I love tools like you that hide on the internet. Ron was a great man and always had a smile. That is what is important about all this

          • Steve says:

Actually, if you read the code Rzz, you’d find that the ‘rules’ do indeed apply to private citizens:

§5. Display and use of flag by civilians; codification of rules and customs; definition. The following codification of existing rules and customs pertaining to the display and use of the flag of the United States of America be, and it is hereby, established for the use of such civilians or civilian groups or organizations as may not be required to conform with regulations promulgated by one or more executive departments of the Government of the United States. The flag of the United States for the purpose of this chapter shall be defined according to title 4, United States Code, Chapter 1, Section 1 and Section 2 and Executive Order 10834 issued pursuant thereto.

You caught that “established for the use of such civilians or civilian groups or organizations as may not be required to conform…” part, right?

It’s that whole “hard right over easier wrong” concept, even when the easier wrong just feels like the proper thing, and seems easy to rationalize.

rule dick? No no no… how about straight jackass! the fact you know people are going to attack you for such a comment tells me the incompetance shown on all levels, including knowing simple flag rules! Do you not consider showing respect important? And relating mosques and ISIS really? I can only shake my head in disbelief when I stumble upon assholes like you in life…
