We shot the MP5 SD for years and never complained that it was anything but heavy. It had a simple skeletonized piece of sheet metal with ribbed rubber applied. I truthfully can’t ever remember any heat associated with it now that I think back.
People thought over-the-can handguards weren’t hot enough, so they made a can that is the handguard.
Sure, but it conforms to rules number 1 and 3, so it’s all good 😉

Put a thousand ribs on it and you would habe a huge heatsink + nice grip. I like it. For Police units, who do not need to dump mags, this seems great.
I only shoot my scorpion with a can sticking out of the hand guard about 7 inches. Somehow I’ve had the sense not to grasp it and burn myself.
