I have been surprised to hear from several Latvians, including a friend that works with drone tech, that NFM packs and vests have been very problematic in several ways including comfort and durability.
I am curious as to how??
I asked for more specifics from two of my knowledgable guys. I know general durability has been a big issue with Belgian vests as well.
NFM packs have never had a good reputation.
NFM products mainly use 725 denier nylon. The vests that most countries have bought are the BEAR vests, which are basically copies of the Arktis Gen Ops vest from sometime in the 90s(?). I don’t think you see any durability issues that are outside the norm, but simply normal issues that arise with military use. I have some objections to the design, but when properly set up for the specific use where a vest like that works, it’s alright.
I’m not surprised at all. NFM is a company that delivers huge numbers via contracts. I don’t think there is a single country that doesn’t experience issues with contract bought gear.
