If you grew up saying “knowing is half the battle” then you’ll appreciate that Hasbro is running full episodes of the GI Joe cartoon series on YouTube.

Crazy. I found out about this yesterday and am watching it with my kids tonight. Big part of my childhood and (I hate to say it) was one of the things that influenced me to join the military. Lots of fun!
After seeing Starblazers and Battle of the Planets when I was 6-7, these Hasbro TV series (that dropped around 6-7 years later) were just unbelievably crude. There’s almost no shading in any of the animation, which is maybe 4-6 frames per second at best? Almost every story is totally contrived and disconnected from the rest of the series like a SITCOM vs the serialized stuff produced by the Japanese. The day Robotech started showing in 1986 in the US was the last time I ever suffered through GI Joe.
We must have been born around the same time, because this was my exact experience. Incidentally, after the Army I ended up working in Animation for almost 20 years.
404953-C, I feel bad for you in a way that you have to share your distaste in an American Icon that captivated kids like me back in 1982. I hope you can work on your self-esteem a bit so we don’t have to hear your peanut gallery comments about animie-tech. I was 7yo back then and could give two-dead moose turds about shading or color.
PORKCHOP SANDWICHES!
Bwahahahaha!!! You made my day; I love the GI Joe satire cartoons!
The Rambo cartoon was better.
The only thing better than the Joe cartoon, was the Joe comic book.

Right there with yo Dsr! Between my Dad being a WWII Vet and GI JOE re-released in 82. YO JOE!!!
Right on brother, same here! I loved those cartoons as a kid, and proudly still serving!
Good memories from when I was growing up!
