That $350.00 Poncho looks really nice. Did I mention…$350.00.

It does a little more than that, but it’s probably not for you. That vinyl Chinese made thing at Walmart will do just fine, so long as you don’t need to make a shelter, or fashion a hammock or stretcher, or stay dry.

We get it. Genuine quality is gonna cost more.

But your genuine arrogance is not doing you any favors.

        • SSD says:

Me? Because I’m pointing out that you have Walmart expectations?

Once again, if you ‘re buying it for yourself, and complaining about the price, it’s not for you. If you don’t know that agencies and units don’t pay retail, you aren’t buying it with government money.

Either way, a long line of people have traipsed through here over the last 12 years whining about prices. no one cares. It’s not arrogance, it’s exhaustion.

You could join one of our fine branches of US Military and go through one of their SOF selection courses. IF you graduate and make it to a Team, then it’s nearly “free” and you will get to use it in austere environments! 🙂

I’m all for quality USA products costing more, but the only two other MIUSA multicam ponchos I could think of off the top of my head are in the $120 range…thats still a big jump (just found a third for $80).

litter/hammock webbing will add a bit, FR adds a bit, full Berry will add a bit over simply MISUA; but the HPG mt. serape is only $205; and I’d hazard it takes twice the man hours to make as the kelty in question (multiple zippers, quilting, 3 layers of material rather then 1).

yes; “its too expensive” is old and tired; but uncritically accepting prices that make no sense doesn’t help anyone either.

        • SSD says:

The Kelty product wasn’t built for commercial consumer pricing. It was built around a government consumer.

$350 is retail and no where near what units pay for it! Contact Dan or Jason at Kelty with any questions.

It’s also Berry Compliant ( 100% made in the USA) it’s also IR and FR treated, did I mention made in America!
