The Role
We are hiring a business operations director. This position involves office management, contract oversight, project management, financial planning and operations, and limited executive-level support.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in tracking and overseeing a wide range of projects that are operational and support-related in nature. This person must be able to work independently with little or no supervision, be detail oriented, and determine prioritization of tasks while being exceedingly well organized and flexible. This person must also enjoy the challenges of supporting a company made up of highly motivated people. The candidate must have the ability to work with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and effective. The highest levels of professionalism, attention to detail, and productivity are crucial to this.
This is a full-time position. While the company is based in Washington, DC, the only location requirement for our employees is that they live (and have the right to work) in the United States.

Main Responsibilities
• Coordinate the compilation, analysis, and summarization of financial, administrative, and operational data with the ability to make sound decisions and act on them.
• Effectively design reports, manuals, presentations, and agendas for external and internal meetings.
• Develop and implement standardized practices for routine business tasks.
• Manage a busy virtual and in-person (once the pandemic ends) office with a shared collaborative work environment. Must have the ability to manage budgets, expenses, vendors, logistics, and equipment.
• Reconcile expense reports and process invoice payments. Ensure that all invoice and expenses are valid and correct. Reconcile any expense discrepancies. Maintain accurate records and coordinate closely with company bookkeepers.
• Monitor and report on compliance with contracts and grants.
• Event planning, to include budgets, travel arrangements, registrations, and accommodations. Arrange travel and related requirements including conference registrations and hotel accommodations.
• Develop and prepare monthly and quarterly management reports for use by the leadership team.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in relevant training, education, and experience.
• Experience in office management, business operations, and executive support.
• Proven record of integrity.
• Detailed understanding of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel.
• Proven record of making persuasive and effective presentations and communications.
• Must demonstrate the ability to employ tact and diplomacy to foster amicable business relations with a wide range of individuals, within and outside the company.
• Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be able to act with a sense of urgency, and desire to contribute to the growth of the company.
