The X-Gaiter is OR’s first product, inspired by a case of frostbite while climbing Denali. It’s been updated over the years and continues to serve.
Featuring a 90D ripstop stretch double weave construction with neoprene along the ankle and back of calf as well as the rand along the sole, the X-Gaiter is insulated with PrimaLoft Aerogel across the toes and entire lower half of boot.
Finally there is a field-maintainable, adjustable shock cord under the sole.

Outdated concept. The majority of heat loss from a boot is downward to the ground, especially with a metal crampon to help conduct it away. These were from boots of a bygone era (as per the photo on the OR site) and any decent boot now will address this.
An aerogel insert will work better than these. If you’re heading up Denali with old boots and using this band aid solution you have other problems. Proper boots are the price of entry.
@Iggy *shrug* guess all the folks that actually bought a pair of X-Gaiters and left favorable comments on OR’s website, probably should’ve read your commentary first.. Lighten up. Francis.

Thankyou for being so concerned on the behalf of so many about something you appear to have no experience in using.
Only too happy to oblige! Oh and Ig? “Thank you” is actually two separate words and also fair to mention, your syntax is pedantic. Work on it.
