Oakley – Tombstone Shooting Eyewear Now Available

Oakley’s Tombstone Shooting Eyewear is now available for order. We first told you about this new technology during SHOT Show which is offered in Reap (left) and Spoil (right) styles.

To create the Tombstone, Oakley conducted vision studies using specialized eyewear to track where a shooter looks. Then they used this data to develop a new single-piece fremeless lens design that offers an unobstructed 120 deg field of view. Additionally, they integrated the high contrast Prizm lens color (others are also available) as well as innovative trigger-release temple pieces that click right into place.

Tombstone was created for competitive shooting and not intended for impact protection. Tombstone meets ANSI Z87.1-2010 (Clause 5.1.4) optics standards.

Hey Oakley, you’re a little late to the party, It called the Smith V2 Tactical and it was the first frameless Milspec ballistic eye pro. And smith didn’t even have to waste money on “research” they just listened to what their end user wanted. You should try it sometime.

So…Oakley makes no mention of any standards being met. No mention of ANSI, much less MilSpec. Seems a little irresponsible to market eyewear to shooters, if the eyewear isn’t even ballistically rated.

  3. The D says:

Not only is it ANSI rated and compliant, it’s also APEL (military) approved.
So let the Butthurt subside. These are the best most advanced eyepro out there right now.
Try em out before you bitch about the price… And if it’s too expensive for your candy ass, don’t cry about it.

Best most advanced? Based on what data being an Oakley fan boy? ANSI standards are a feel good metric, I have seen my V2’s stop a metal 17 Cal Projectile going 600+ feet per second. Haven’t seen anything ANSI rated do that before. Ejecting temples? Thats called Pivlock and Smith has been doing that for years, wait let me guess Oakley came up with an adjustable nose piece to….Give me a break, don’t support parasitic products.

    • Mac says:

It’s not on PEO’s list of APEL approved eyewear.

    • jb says:

It’s not on the APEL. It’s not even MilSpec.

      • SSD says:

And it’s still a great shooting glass which is what they are selling them as.
