    1. jellydonut says:

      Why?

The only people who would wear this kind of thing are people who were employed by this company when it was still named Blackwater, and posers.

And let’s be real here, no one who is not a poser is going to order ‘Blackwater gear’ on the internet.

      • Phil says:

I don’t know – in the current political climate I could see people wearing this stuff for statement purposes.

I personally wouldn’t, no matter my personal positions on PMCs.

      • Mick says:

I also don’t get… I really thought they wanted to get away from that name/logo… hence all the name changes… weren’t they “Xe” for a while?

Maybe enough time has passed they figure no one cares anymore? Or the lawsuits are resolved, so it’s all good? Just seems odd to me…

      • SSD says:

So those of us who worked there or attended training there are posers?

    2. DCSINGLES says:

I concur. Maybe if logo was subdued, even mono chromatic embroidery. Then maybe one could get nostalgic and order something to commemorate his serviced.

    3. Spikele says:

Erik Prince still retains the rights to the Blackwater Brand.

    4. Matt says:

This is a different group of folks that are trying to capitalize on the name and aura surrounding “Blackwater.”

      • Stefan S. says:

There is no Aura with Blackwater. Tarnished POS brand.

        • DOC Gungnir says:

As someone else stated, this has been leased through E. PRINCE for merchandise sales as people are very much still interested in the mystery surrounding the company. “Tarnished” is a matter of opinion. If your jealous just say so, we’ll send you a sticker and a blackwater brand pacifier. Cheers.

        • SSD says:

The brand isn’t tarnished anymore than the men and women who worked there. Hell, I used to work there and they were some damned fine folks.

        • Tim E. says:

I’d counter that Stefan S by pointing out that you’re the POS,
          not the BW brand.
Thousands of missions run, not ONE dignitary hurt or killed that was protected by BW in two of the most dangerous Countries in the world at that time. Deadly Force used in less than 5% of those thousands of missions, a record neither the military nor anyone else operating at that time can match.
Go back to reading books by Jeremy Scahill or watching MSNBC.
It seems to be where you get your viewpoints from.

          • Bill says:

I got my viewpoints from DSS, USSS, USMS, DEA and number of other multi-letter agencies’ agents who wondered why their roles where being outsourced. Of course, a number of those agents jumped ship, and are now realizing that they would have been GS14 candidates long ago, with a solid .gov retirement plan.

But as one program mangler explained to me; “hey, nothing personal, it’s just business.”

            • SSD says:

Why were they outsourced? Mass. The government needed a whole lot of capability for an indeterminate amount of time, more than it had in-house capacity for. The government can turn contractors off, it can’t do that with Gov civilians.

    5. Matt says:

Is it just me or does their logo look like a cake with five candles?

    6. Kurt says:

I bought a shirt. I like the original logo instead of the Hong Kong copy of the shirts. And these are made of newer nicer material than the original ones from the ProShop.

Yeah, these are under license from E. Prince who still owns the copyright. He apparently leased it out to someone to make the shirts.

    7. d says:

Is there any Custer-Battles shwag available? I mean, since we’re already shopping in that department.

      • Jack Griffin says:

Anybody else think Triple Canopy is totally missing out? Totally picking up chix at the club with my “Isn’t that a portable toilet company?” polo and bumper sticker.

        • Kurt says:

Ohhhhh, the TC gear is all over the ProShop now. Hoodies, golf crap, shot glasses, week before last TC branded emergency LED lanterns.

    8. babola says:

      Flogging a dead horse…

      • Haji says:

A very popular dead horse. Don’t confuse the market at large with the relatively small number of people who worked there. They’re not the same thing. They’ll make a pile of money just selling to militaria collectors, much less everyone else that will buy it.

    9. Bill says:

So this is a company that only sells the defunct marketing stuff from another company that no longer exists?

      • BrettW says:

Does anybody ever bother to read other comments before posting? I mean seriously…

        • contractor says:

Quality posting any time Blackwater is mentioned.

          • Bill says:

I’m misunderstood: this is marketing and capitalism at it’s best, regardless of the compan(ies) involved. It’s almost surreal. Think it through.

I also don’t go for branded stuff, even if it’s from a company still in existence. If you want me to advertise for you, you provide the material.

      • SSD says:

It’s not defunct if people buy it. Locally, that company employed a lot of people. Hell, it brought me to the Tidewater. I still see people wearing BW shirts or with BW stickers on their trucks.

    10. Philip says:

It’s gear with a logo. Some people will buy it, some people won’t.

If you don’t like it or disagree with the message you think it sends, don’t buy it. That is why I don’t buy Viva Che shirts.

    11. Matt says:

      The sky is falling.

    12. Amish says:

It’d be nice to think that former employees could get discounts and or some of the royalties. (I was never BW)

However, I do see ALOT of purchases from cowadooty kids, Fudds, Airshitters and poser tryhards.

      • SSD says:

Former employees get some of the royalties? Why? And how would one prove he had worked there? We turned in our badges when we left.

    13. Sofic says:

Nice. Should see these on show in DXB airport next. I miss the lodge, my CQD knife and my chalker sling. Oh and the bears chasing me pting around there at night.
