Where are they made?
Why are they making these ? They appear over stocked on mags at stores. Maybe they see this as way to resell brand into markets like Calif or Amazon. Just don’t see the gloves pitch with so many glove people out there.
A couple of years ago we hired several people in the industry with extensive experience sewn goods. One of the specialities were gloves (you most likely have worn some of their pervious designs). With these connections we had the opportunity to work with one of the best glove manufactures in the world to create three basic gloves (Flight, Patrol and Breach) built around that new custom fitment we developed in house.
In addition to improved fit we also looked at pattern/sewing design as it related to firearms handling (i.e. adding a “gun” gusset in between index finger and thumb V which regularly blows out during firearm usage). We also added in touch screen leather tips on three fingers for using electronics as well as removing almost all exterior branding from the glove. As the designs were prototyped over the last year an all synthetic version of the patrol glove was liked by the testers and the design was lightened/simplified to create the technical glove.
We are currently researching Berry Amendment compliant solutions (all US made) , although that will mean a significant increase in price to achieve the same quality. Typically any labor or BOM cost increase is going to be multiplied by 3 or 4(if not more) in the MSRP for this sort of product made in the USA.
For the gloves, the team involved in the design has significant experience in sourcing and manufacturing gloves all over the world. Vietnam was selected as the location of manufacture for the gloves due to the consistently high standard of quality from the factory chosen. Obviously we source materials domestically when feasible, like using all US-Made Nomex in the FR versions of the gloves.
So long as the gloves are using similar quality materials in either situation the domestic product will not be any better than the overseas version due to places like Vietnam having a lot more institutional knowledge on how to make a good glove or pair of pants, and the workforce to back it up.
