Just a very wild guess: they just grabbed an E-1 they keep around as copy-machine slave/office mascot while her medical Chapter discharge is processed (seen this SO many times in the Army).
Poor kid wanted to do her best for her country, but has never touched a pistol in her life, so she defaulted to the little bit of rifle training received before her Basic Training orthopedic injury.
That, or she isn’t even a Capitol “S” “Soldier”, but another of the spokesmodel/actresses the Army and it’s publicity contractors like to hire.
