FirstSpear Friday Focus – Discrete Operations Vest (DOV)

DOV_group_8503

For this week’s Friday Focus, we’re taking a look at the Discrete Operations Vest. Extremely light weight and low volume, the FS Discrete Operations Vest, or DOV, is built as modular augmentation to products like the NOC or the Slick, and it can be used on its own as well.

The DOV features stretch hooks which seamlessly integrate onto the FS Line 1 Belt, as well as elastic loops above the stretch hooks that the Line 1 belt can be fed through.

The DOV is adjustable via a rear mounted high-stretch cummerbund. Wide elastic shoulder straps offer comfort and a stable opposed fit with the front. The two front panels of the DOV are designed to accept the range of FS Ragnar Pockets. Additionally, the DOV features positions tabs which facilitate the management of PTTís, Cable and spoon deployed ordnance as well as antennae management.

That’s a pretty nice looking vest, is the idea behind it that someone could wear this vest, sans pouches, under a jacket then when they need to go into action they slap on the pouches? While it’s definitely more discreet than your typical tactical vest you would still stand out running around with this vest with all of the pouches attached, however, I could see this potentially being used by hunters who like the idea of tac gear but don’t want to look all mall ninja.

Something I have been waiting for, forever!

I sent out ideas for this to various companies, and was told it “Wasn’t a viable option, because Velcro is too weak to stand on it’ own”, and if I wanted it ‘custom made’ I needed a min order of 500! With only 7 guys in my CAT-A (at the time),it wasnt do-able.

I am going to be all over this,as it can be used with BFG velcro-on products as well.

Happy,Happy,Happy,;Joy,Joy,Joy-Cannot WAIT to get and try one!!!

I should say, for something LIKE this…sorry to give the impression this was my idea or anything.
