It puts a new spin on Trumps rhetoric of not knowing what to do with NATO, setting bizzaro conditions on allies, and his lack of strategic foresight with NATO… it falls right into Russia’s new warfare strategy, exactly what Russia wants to do… foster distrust, foster resentment, and fear, losening defensive ties which then allows Russia to subvert, use the media, and force resolutions in their favor; by force or otherwise.
Nothing would make Putin happier than a Trump presidency. I mean, it almost makes me wonder if Russia was involved some how with Turkey’s coup, to somehow force Turkeys hand into Russia’s palm to further put strain on NATO and further disrupt a country suffering from constant terrorist attacks.

So you think Trump calling out the majority of NATO partners not pulling their weight was wrong?
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with his stance on many things but the fact of the matter is that the majority of NATO is passing the buck to the US and UK. Not too long ago the Canadians were thinking of completely replacing heavy armour with light wheeled vehicles and the Belgian armed and security forces are a joke in general. Wasn’t the German Luftwaffe struggling to keep their Tornados operational because of the lack of funding?
Is the US supposed to continuously pick up the slack of other nations?
Also. It may seem like a no-shit statement but the majority of the wars fought in the 21st century and later will be in the non-visual spectrum first, then with drones and unmanned aerial vehs. It’s pretty astounding how ragtag forces in besieged areas like Syria and Iraq are using cheap COTS drones to huge effect. How prepared are western nations and NATO for a conflict in the non-visible spectrum, considering so many of these nations are reliant on technology?
Great points Dev. I don’t agree with everything Trump says and some I vehemently disagree with but much has been made about Trump’s comments about NATO which SPECIFICALLY called out those nations spending less than the promised 2% GDP than the narrative of it being all of NATO.
Interestingly Poland and Estonia do meet their obligations and are at the forefront of the Russian threat. Trump’s comments didn’t minimize our commitment to them.
The exaggeration of Trump’s NATO comments is quite similar to the characterization of he being racist because he wants to enforce our border and accurately points out the threat that illegal alien criminals represent to US citizens as they take advantage of US largesse.

Well Clinton did guarantee a military response to cyber-attacks, which she continues to blame Russia for. Not sure if she would go for Russia itself, or engage in more proxy wars, like in Syria with a no fly zone.
If Russia is such a threat why don’t we just cut off the US uranium they are mining?
