MDM – 5.11 Tactical’s HEXGRID

5.11 Tactical is displaying a production version of their HEXGRID plate carrier at Modern Day Marine. We first saw this awhile ago with a preproduction model showing up at SHOT Show.

The proprietary material is cut with PALS Hexagonal holes which accepts pouches not only up and down but on angles as well.

The plates are covered with Cordura bags for protection and held within the HEXGRID carrier.

The carrier itself is a simple affair with optional shoulder strap covers. That’s right, it’s 5.11 Tactical, but that ‘Made in USA’ tag is real.

    Nice being Made In USA!

It’s odd, perhaps angle of pic, but the pouches in second pic seem sonlarge against plate surface area. Are the pouches x large ? They seem like M4 magazine pouches but oddly large, or perhaps the plate area to attach is reduced?

Unfortunately its impossible to make good non-horizontal PALS platform because of PALS geometry, it will always be too complicated and/or with poor attachment (missing webbing, deformations, etc.). The same happened here

My shoulders love this trend…..if only 10 years ago…..

I can see those straps on the plate bags causing lots of hotspots.
