EOTech to Introduce Green Reticle

EOTech released this teaser earlier today on Instagram, depicting a green reticle option for the XPS and EXPS Holographic Weapon Sights. People often ask why green lasers are preferable to red. It’s the same reason EOTech is introducing the green reticle; the eye picks up green more quickly than red.

Yes, green is picked up more easily, but if you are in a green environment (green grass in the sun) the lack of contrast can be problematic. Indoors/urban, etc its great.

Generally speaking, green lasers will also gobble up your battery life much faster. I’m sure you can get a green laser of equivalent current rating… but so far, lasers in this product category don’t seem to be using them.

That is why there are brightness settings. Turn it up too maximum and you wont have any green on green issues. Be meyers, steiner just from a green laser and my own personal mil standpoint seem to do just fine.

    Green reticle on the EoTech?

You could source that ten years ago from a dozen airsoft sites (probably with only 2MOA thermal drift…). Heck, the Chinese versions even had red to green switchable reticle, which I predict will be an L3 innovation in 2027.

Great. I just bought one. Now this comes out.

Good thing L3 is keeping up with the latest and greatest offerings of 2003. Idiots.

The reason your eyes pick up green better is due to green being in the center of the visible spectrum. There are more shades of green than any other color. That is the reason NVGs are designed to output visible light in shades of green.
