Anyone know what bag that is?

  2. Ian Cornell says:

Definitly a SOE item. He’s the only one i know who offers those neon thread designs

  3. Jack says:

    That’s a charming color scheme.

Too bad SOE is run by terrible people.

    • Mike says:

“Terrible people” is a huge understatement.

      • CHOKESLAM! says:

Can someone elaborate on this? Not to simply sling mud at a company, but I’ve almost bought a couple of items from them and if they’re not really on the up and up I wouldn’t mind knowing so I can steer my dollars elsewhere…

Super long lead times (took me 2 1/2 years to get something once) and basically a giant fuck you attitude if you challenge or disagree with the way they do business. They do well due to a loyal fan base but they would do so much better if they tweaked the way they do business a bit.

They make sturdy products. Overbuilt, heavy, like early 2000’s tactical gear (don’t expect anything state-of-the-art), but usually it’ll last survive abuse.

That is, if you get your order, as they’re often delayed.

Their owners are horribly self-absorbed, they insult customers who ask questions, ban any criticism from their social media channels (and publicly shame them wherever possible), routinely delay order for no reason (then publicly shame people who ask why their order has been delayed for years). But somehow they’ve got a cult-like following who’ll jump in and contribute to the public shaming.

He’s also a convicted felon (dealing cocaine) and then re-convicted for owning guns as a convicted felon.

I know the guy wearing that rig. He’s a camera man.
It is indeed an SOE rig and it only took 2.5 years for them to fill the order, AND the stitching is a little messed up.
SOE’s standard response to any customer service inquiries seems to be “get fucked”.

    • Giovani says:

That he’s a cameraman is perfect, and why I was asking about the kit anyway. My wife wants/needs some kind of solution for on body kit, but currently most offerings on the photography side are too cumbersome and look unchanged from the 60’s. Too bad about it being SOE. Won’t do business with those blowhards.

This is one of several different setups I use for photo/ video, if you have more questions, we can get in touch outside of this thread.

Always good to see SS.NET being repped. In before violent defenders of JW show up.

  6. JM says:

Whoa, this took a turn I didn’t see coming.
I had never heard about the SOE coke conviction – but it makes sense, he runs it like a dope boy in a trap house. Don’t like my rules, cop somewhere else.
He’s got legions of dedicated fans/junkies, who will buy whatever and whenever. If he says Fuck You I’ll Sell When I Want To, he knows there will be a gang of gear heads waiting on his front steps acting like pigeons and scratching like Tyrone Biggums. He’s apparently convinced some folks that he’s the only one with a Colombian plug, so they’ll line up around the block and wait with their money in hand.

I had an email exchange with SOE once over an order that took a very long time. I wanted to see if I could just switch to the next size down in belt since I had been working out and lost a little weight over the period. The dude was a total A hole, unnecessarily, it wasn’t that big of a deal as he made it into. But he acted like a total Sh!t talking felon, just like I used to hear when I worked in a prison. I thought he would have been much more chill for someone who does needlepoint. That is OK, there are lots of gear companies out there.

Their Tapered War Belt is still the schweetest piece of kit I own. And yes, it took over a year to get. I’m asked about it fairly frequently, and it’s funny how quickly the “guns & gear community” knowledge presents itself when his name comes up.

That said, they built me a cobra belt with the female buckle sewn wrong side down and they made it right in a week. Which I’ll admit pleasantly surprised me. QC fail, customer service success.

My dealings with him or Amanda over e-mail or messaging have always been cordial. I’ve seen the social media interactions and they are what they are. Probably repellant to grown-up professionals but some is the stuff of legend over on Usual Suspects. Whose members’ checks clear too.

And where else ya’ gonna go for Typhon kit with primary color stitching?
