After the demise of the best Airborne plan, a most terrifying effect occurs on the battlefield. This effect is known as the rule of the LGOPs. This is, in its purest form, small groups of pissed-off 19 year old American paratroopers. They are well trained. They are armed to the teeth and lack serious adult supervision. They collectively remember the Commander’s intent as “March to the sound of the guns and kill anyone who is not dressed like you” – or something like that.
The Interwebz
It sounds eeirily familiar to little groups of lost soldiers who didn’t pay attention to the maco brief who end up pushing tight ass timelines to the right and detracting from the combat power of the maneuver commander.
Lighten up, Francis.
I found the Karen everyone. Right here!
Found the staff officer….
The full bird in that photo has a GPS (likely useless in an airborne op against a near peer adversary) and a secure multiband radio.
What was the communications device available to the average paratrooper circa Operation Overlord?

Those troopers quickly assembled into operationally viable units that provided PLENTY of combat power…
AATW!
Shoot em’ in the face!!
Happily they go about their work.
Airborne!
Looking at the small framed version of LGOPs I have, there’s no mention of “19 year old” and the last line after or something like that is: Happily they go about their day’s work.
I’m sure there are several versions of this floating around. Mine was from the 1980s and 1990’s. LGOPs and another poster U.S. Paratroopers provide the enemy with the maximum opportunity to give his life for his country were popular back in the day.
Geronimo!
Strike Hold!
