Cylinder & Slide To Close

Cylinder and Slide just posted this notice to their Facebook page. While it’s great to see Bill being able to enjoy retirement, we’ll be sad to see the business go.

Cylinder and Slide would like to announce that after 44+ years of business, we are ceasing operations. We would like to thank our countless customers and fellow industry partners for all their support and assistance throughout all these years.

We do have quite a bit of inventory, fixtures, equipment, factory parts, etc that we would like to move. If you have any potential interest, we are accepting email inquiries only; info@cylinder-slide.com. There is too much list at the moment, but we are generating lists of what we have.

Please congratulate Bill on being able to finally retire!

    Interested in any completed firearms

Oh man, this is a sad, sad read. All of the parts I have bought from them have been of the highest quality, and their gunsmithing work is also the best.

    So sad, but deserved.

    Bill
Congratulations on your Retirement! I’ve enjoyed marveling your work and talking to you at a Shot Show years ago. I’ve never been able to do a mustache like you. May you enjoy many years of retirement.

I sent a pathfinder in for repair and one of your gunsmiths called to say you were closing and probably cannot fix it. Could you please describe what is wrong with the gun and what must be done to repair it. I understand a new slide and barrel would fix the problem. Is there another gunsmith you would recommend? Is it safe to shoot as is? I have a great deal of money tied up in the gun and don’t want it to be an expensive door stop. I appreciate anything you can do.

    Thanks.

A well known, solid name in the community. Its a shame someone capable wasn’t able to take over, but I hope Bill and his family enjoy their extra time together.

If its possible, maybe Brownells could buy the designs and continue to produce them? Some extra money to Bill would always be a good thing…

That sucks…but a very well deserved retirement. C&S worked over a Browning HP for me over a decade ago. Bill and his smiths did an amazing job and the pistol has always performed flawlessly. Sad to see this trusted source of competent and quality gunsmithing go. Best of wishes to Bill and the rest of the team.

Over the years I had several pistols customized by C&S. Terrific job every time. Too bad Bill doesn’t have a person or persons in his business who could carry on in the same tradition.

Every time I pick up my SFS Hi Power I think of Bill. Not getting it in his hands in time is regrettable, but let the man rest. Thanks to C&S for decades of fine work.
