Having even watched their FR33 video, I still don’t understand why so many 0p3r5t0rZ carry a flag.
But what’s interesting is their (generic) nylon gear warranty. 3 years of normal use is a “lifetime”, and after 7 it should be destroyed (even if unused). lol
Flags flown in a combat zone can get certificates stating they were flown there, multiple teammates of mine did this on OEF. Also some people carry them to remind them of what they are fighting for. In a pinch, it can even be used as a form of IFF for signaling (I’ve never heard of this being done), or marking a location as friendly. Bottom line is there are multiple reasons.
IIRC, the Spiritus guys talked about this in one of their videos – it gained a lot of visibility because of use by SOF personnel in Syria who used it as a way to identify friendlies in the field because the blue field stood out.
