Although it’s been around for a while, it was fun to see the G28 Zexhibited on the IWA side after looking at the MR308 A6 at Enforce Tac earlier in the week.
I’ll admit, I’m as confused as you are, seeing an MR designated rifle, which has long been used by Heckler & Koch for commercial rifle models, being displayed along with defense and security weapons, and then running across the G28 Z at what amounts to a hunting and shooting sports show, lined up next to the gamut of MR 556 and MR 308 rifles. You see, G designations are used by the German military and stands for Gewehr or rifle. The G28 is a Bundeswehr or German Army sniper rifle in 7.62.
Chambered in 308 Win, the G28 Z has a 421mm barrel and weighs 5.8 kg.
It is outfitted with a Harris bipod, foregrip, and an HK-Schmidt & Bender 3-20 x 50 PMII optic with a laser filter and piggy-back Aimpoint T1.
Additionally, there is an adjustable gas block (you also get a better look at their muzzle device) and proprietary HK pistol grip and adjustable stock round out the build.
The catalog I was handed listed the color as “Grünbraun” or Green-Brown.
Looks like it could be a crew served weapon…but those Germans are big dudes so it should be ok.
Hey SSD, thanks for the heads up on their color naming. G28 is my fav and I’ve always wondered the naming of all their colors used. Especially that color on the scope and upper receiver ((“Grünbraun” )) Looks like it’s also known as RAL 8000. Do a web search and you’ll see. A close variant of Ranger Green is RAL 7013. I definitely would like to know their colors used on the lower receiver and also the color used on the rails. As far as those grip panels go; closest thing I can find that look similar are from Tango Down.
As for their MR308 A6 at enforceTac, that 45°ACRO can’t compare to the Aimpoint T1 with that hooded sun visor. That vibe is iconic.
