Velocity Systems – Variable Width Webbing

We ran into Velocity Systems and they showed us something they’ve been working on.

This isn’t an optical illusion or twisted webbing. It is actually woven that way and they are going to integrate it into a wide variety of applications.

Is this for load bearing (body weight) applications?

Similar style webbing has been used in climbing harnesses for a few years. The buckle end is narrow to facilitate a smaller, lighter, less obtrusive buckle area and the portion that wraps behind the body is wider to facilitate greater surface area and comfort.

To a certain degree it is becoming old technology as manufacturers (Petzl, Arc’teryx) are trending towards load bearing laminated fabrics and microfilament mesh. The Arc’teryx H150 rigger’s belt is a great example. As far as I know, the H150 doesn’t have a webbing inner belt through the body of the belt.

    Jungle has one it doesn’t.
