OTTE Gear has released the Overwatch Anorak that we showed you during SHOT Show 2011. Manufactured from Schoeller NanoSphere, the oversized anorak cut fits over your equipment.
We think OTTE Gear did a great job defining the product –
“Designed to augment the traditional ghille, the Overwatch allows the marksman to keep his kit concealed when the environment requires both discretion and weather protection.”
They’ve refined the design a little bit and it’s now available.
1. Packs down and takes little room in a rucksack
2. Oversized hood accommodates helmet
3. Loop on sleeve for I.D.
4. Elastic webbing on hood, shoulders and upper back for garnishing
5. Forearm zip pocket holds a removable 4” x 6” plastic dope card sleeve
6. Thumb loop so jacket sleeve won’t ride up
7. Cuffs have laminated die-cut hook/loop adjustments
8. Large sleeve pocket
9. Kangaroo pass-through pocket to access mags and gear
10. Anorak can be unzipped from hem to elbow on one or both sides for quick dress/removal

Does it come with Schmidt&Bender scope in pocket or am I missing something?
The price you see is a function of several factors including, but not limited to, materials cost, production cost, market size and profit. And, each of the elements I just mentioned ate themselves influenced by those same factors. Quality costs. This ain’t Walmart.
Yeah I have Ottes hardshell that I like and I appreciate their quality. I also understand the factors that come into play when churning out quality kit in small quantities.
Still the price seemed a bit high, I have been expecting this thing since shot2011 and I thought it would be around 400-500usd.
Nevertheless I have no experience with the fabric in question so perhaps I was hard to judge the price at first.
Anyone have more info on the fabric, especially durability since it would be used while crawling quite a bit, please chime in.
The fabric alone costs around $40 per yard to buy…
I’ve been pretty impressed with the OTTE Gear that I’ve seen recently. This one seems like a winner. Things cost money and $795 can be a value if the product delivers on your needs. It depends on the person/mission/etc.
Really like it. Simple is good. However at the price I prefer the Vertx Smock made from the same material. About half the price. I think a fair price for this anorak should run $275.00-300.00. However like SSD said when you’re only going to move a few thousand pieces the price is going to be high. Limited market. That being said other than the price this is really nice kit. Ventilation is unmatched.
Part of the price for this is making the mesh on the hood. Good on them for getting this out. Those who actually need this will be quite happy with it.
To address the price point issue, Ideally they wanted to be in the 550-650 range but the unforeseen manufacturing costs on streamlining the intricate details of the ghillie platform for production drove the price point up. Furthermore Acrteryx who manufactures industry leading phenomenal outer wear has a few pieces that are priced in that same neighborhood, all things considered with the wide spectrum of functionality that this piece offers I don’t think it’s unreasonable. The bottom line with gear gentlemen, at the end of the day if you want to drive a F*&^king Ferrari you gotta pay for a f*&^king Ferrari.
