All it needs now is a Multicam paint scheme and dual .50’s ^.^

Also, guessing this works similar to the Chinook – two counter-rotating props (in this case ducted fans) to counter the torque?

That’s pretty cool. But still far behind Avro Canada’s Avrocar.

Alright, maybe that’s just some patriotic preference on my end…

What this thing’s maximum altitude reach? I understand it’s not meant for flying as much as it is for hovering, but in these videos it barely reaches 1 feet off the ground. A good 3 feet at least would be much better.

It’s safe to say that this thing is a “proof of concept” model. If ever they get or got the funding for prototyping, the performance would be better.

Wired magazine just ran a bit about this thing. I think they said they were restricting testing to 15′ altitude and 30 mph, but those were not the machine’s limits. I’d say if they released a civilian version it would sell like hotcakes….and I’d probably get in line for one.

Oh, and the Avrocar…yeah, I remember seeing the tattered remnants at the old Smithsonian storage facility. It was more of an interesting testbed and wishful thinking than a useful project!

Beats hitting patrols by foot, wonder if it could be pushed in that direction to avoid IED strikes.
