Lowa isn’t a consumer brand on their civilian side. They area mountaineering brand at heart. If they dumbed their product down in order to offer a $100 boot they wouldn’t be Lowa anymore.
The Zephyr GTX is hands down the most comfortable boot I have worn. I have never tried the Salomon quest though. I know that is also a great boot. Has anyone tried both pairs and can give a personal preference?
I’ve got both. They aren’t the same boot. The Lowa is a light hiker and while the Salomon is also lightweight it’s beefier and a bit more robust.
Compare the two at REI and you’ll see what I mean.

Yeah, I have been to rei to see both and chose the lowa BC I thought the salomon was more robust and more than what I need. In your opinion if you were doing a day which included repelling, range, cqb, sniper recon (not across Afghan terrain). Which pair would you choose? Everyone seems to love the Salomons, I didn’t know if I was missing out on something.
You’d look at the Salomon Quest and think that they were clunky but that isn’t the case at all. I prefer the Salomon between those two boots but they are really in different weight classes.

Awesome boots! Bought these turkey night last week from afmo and arrived today! Had these in the normal brown rei style , had to have them for work since they are so comfy! Couldn’t wait for the 8″ to come out but hopefully soon…
