Kickin’ It Old School

Someone coughed up this old advertisement for a Colt Sporter but I’m not sure how old it actually is. Anyone else remember the offset pivot pins?

This ad looks to come a bit before my time… but check out that price!

Actually, if you account for inflation from 1963 (When the Colt AR-15 Sporter was first released for civilian sales), that price is equivelant to around $1,400.00 which is about what they WERE running.

I got my first AR-15 in 1983 and it was about $530. It was the SP1 variant with the birdcage flash hider and no forward assist.

Ad was before my time, but I do own one from then [or I did before that unfortunate canoe trip… 🙂 ] I bought it in 2001 for an inflated price, it worked fine the last time I shot it.

Thanks for the new wallpaper… Making people nervous… since 1969! 🙂

Sport? Hunting? No way! That’s an evil tactical assault machine gun with a high capacity death clip! No civilian needs one of those!!
