OFFGRID Magazine

The latest magazine from the creators of Recoil, OFFGRID magazine is now available in stores. Sporting a similar design format to Recoil, OFFGRID offers information primarily on preparation and survival, featuring articles on rope knots, paracord, bug out bags, and MRE reviews, among others, although firearms are also featured. This is the inaugural issue of what is planned as a semiannual imprint.

I wonder if they are going to tell us it’s a good idea that regular civilians aren’t allowed to have military grade water purifiers since they are too powerful for our own good.

  2. Jorge says:

Hopefully they’ll let Iain fly this one as well…..seems to have worked well for Recoil of late.

It’s New Year’s Eve, 1999, but with zombies.

    • Greg says:

With any luck they’ll keep the zombie nonsense to a minimum and stick to the off the grid theme.

      • I’m the one who wrote up the magazine and I don’t recall there being any “zombie nonsense” in this issue. There was a pretty interesting article on DIY biodiesel, however.

Does anybody know if this will be available in digital format?
I receive Recoil via Z and I am pleased by the magazine (besides what happened in the infamous MP7 accident) and I would like to digitaly subscribe to Offgrid also.
If somebody can give me an answer

    Take care

The iPhone app was just released, so I would assume an Android app is also, or soon will be, available.

The web site has absolutely no contact link or contact info on the page.
How can I find out who is selling in N.Y.C.??

    • SSD says:

The magazine officially launches today. We were lucky enough to find it early. It should start showing up alongside Recoil.

Does anyone know where this magazine can be purchased in Sacramento ca

  7. Mike says:

Found mine at Barnes & Noble.

I bought a copy at the PX last week. Mostly glamour shots like RECOIL. I’d say most people new to preparedness may like it. More seasoned folks may get an idea or two, but it was all very basic info, easily accessed in much greater detail on the internet.

    July 27th, 2013.
I’ve now inquired at several different large news/magazine shops here in Manhattan… no one has heard of this magazine nor knows anything about it.

The web site “offgridweb.com” has zero links/hypertext to click on to communicate with anyone… and after sending several emails to “Recoil” on their web site has got me nowhere as no one responds when I ask them: “where is the magazine available in N.Y.C.”?

    Any thoughts?

  10. Major_Northeast_City says:

I just called Barnes & Noble near me (Manhattan) they don’t have it.
Someone in Facebook told me they bought a copy at Walmart, unfortunately there are no Walmart’s in Manhattan only Kmart.

The frustrating and sad thing for me is that trying to contact Recoil mag. yields zero response.

You missing nothing, just like Recoil and that backpedaling fiasco last year. Oh and the 50$ for 6 issues price tag. K thx bye. And I am by far no magazine cheapskate. I pay 12$ a copy for Top Gear with no problem every month. Was in a local store and the owner had a copy of OG. Its pretty if you are into pretty magazines I guess. If your a noob and it might be worth your 9$ a couple of times after that you will figure out better info is available online for fee. Or if you happened to be one of the eight people on earth that didn’t watch Natgeo try to belittle being prepared with super cool guys and gals who sold fake dicks and lube to make ends meet or who are so hardcore they blow their fingers off with a .22 this magazine might appeal to you. YMMV.

  12. Jenny says:

I like the magazine, I live in Chicago and found it at Books A Million downtown on Adams street.

  13. Major_Northeast_City says:

Just bought a copy on Ebay for $7.98 free shipping no tax.
Someone is selling dozens of them new.
I gave up looking for a copy in Manhattan as no one ever heard of it.
I just want to see what the hype is about.
The only thing more ridiculous than $8.99 per issue is (to me) “$12.99” if you buy a copy from Recoil’s online department.

Ya’ll are very high strung. Its the first issue. There’s even an editors note in the front stating its all basic info but will become more in depth with more issues coming. Stop being so damnable close minded and get off your high horse. For people new to prepping this FIRST issue is great if your not so new you probably know most of it already but still interesting to read.
