VERY impressed. There is a lot of misinformation in my state about its own laws, and most police, when asked, will give you guidelines that have nothing to do with the law. I had to dig pretty hard to find the actual laws and this expands on them very accurately.

Thanks for this one. As a North Carolinian transplanted to Massachusetts, I find the knife laws up here confusing as hell.

  3. FMA FIGHTERS says:

Awesome. I always bring up knife laws to my students. Lots of made up laws (myths). Such as if the blade fits the the palm of your hand it legal. What about if they have hands like Andre the Giant? hmmmm!

A must have guide for any knife user and if you want to go one step further, join a knife rights organization. Thanks SSD for the great tip.

I wouldn’t bet my freedom on that website. At minimum, the states of Kansas (especially) and Missouri are badly outdated. At least in those two cases, the rules shown are actually more restrictive than law is now, so following the website in those cases shouldn’t get you thrown in the slammer. But it makes me wonder how many other states are outdated, and possibly in the other direction. As some of the comments on the Kansas page point out, as of July this year, essentially all knife laws in Kansas were repealed. It is my understanding that Missouri laws were also drastically changed recently.

This reminds me of walking into the grocery store, and a female police officer hired as security says to me “Excuse me, do you have a permit for that knife?” (I was carrying a Cold Steel Folding Tanto in my pocket)…

I replied, “No, but I have a permit for the 9mm at the small of my back”.

She laughed, and said “Carry on!”

It all depends on the cop. (shrugs)

  7. Fred says:

They state it is illegal in Wisconsin to carry a concealed weapon, and make no mention that we do have CCW now. Oops.

    Great resource! Thanks for sharing!
