  1. Mike says:

    Yes, please!

  2. TV-PressPass says:

Well that’s fairly exciting isn’t it?

  3. Lucky says:

    Army’s new patterns?

    • I can tell you 1,000% for sure NO

      • 65th Infantry GI jose says:

Then is it Kryptek LEAF, ADS US4CES, or Crayola Brookwood? If you have the answer then please lemme know brother. Although I appreciate Kryptek’s anti-blob effect, right about now I would wear anything other than these UCP ACUs…so spill it man!

  4. cimg says:

so are these the CIE versions, arid, tropic(woodland?) and transitional?

  5. Joe says:

    Wow. Just like Ktyptek.

  6. Resabed says:

    “Alpine”?

I need new pants (pun intended).

  7. zep says:

SSD, is it safe to assume that these will still be the standard Multicam pattern, but just more desert-y for arid, more green for tropic, more white for alpine etc?

  8. Scubasteve says:

I think Zep is onto something here

  9. Skeet says:

    Wow… so exciting……… without pictures. 🙁

  10. Joe says:

Well this just made my SHOT schedule a bit more crowded.

  11. dan says:

and in a few days the first set of Airsoft Knockoffs will start showing up.

  12. Steven S says:

I wasn’t excited for the LE pattern (they are usual designed for looks rather than performance.)

Now, this is interesting. I can’t wait to test these patterns out.

I am curious though why they didn’t make a woodland version? They already have a transitional out there and their releasing a arid version. So why not complete the trio? Maybe the tropic version or alpine version will be some kind of hybrid?

    • KaosKydex says:

The tropic is a woodland pattern.

      • Steven S says:

Technically speaking, yes you are right. However most people consider it a class of it’s own due to the fact that tropical colors are extremely green than compared to other woodland environments.

        • m5 says:

No, not necessarily. Temperate woodland can be pretty bright green too. Just consider CADPAT TW. Coloured for temperate woodland – Canadian forests used for the colour palette – but works pretty well in tropical jungle too.

          • Jean says:

In my experience multicam and mtp outperformed cadpat tw in the jungle. While I’m sure cadpat tw fares better in the lab, when you’re operating in the jungle you are soaked within minutes and cadpat turns almost black when wet.

  13. Kemp says:

I wouldn’t be suprised if the new schemes differ in more than just the coloration. Crye isn’t known for half measures.

  14. dan.persec says:

MultiCam…Am I wrong, if I think that, multicam should be the only one pattern to be multifunctional camouflag?

  15. Jon C. says:

Recouping investment in a US Army solicited waste of time/money?

At any rate, I am pro-Multicam and am very interested in the new stuff.

  16. JaegerSchnitzel says:

Ooooohhhh…….let’s sell four times as much product because Lord knows the US Army needs to buy four different plate carriers for every soldier!!!!

    • SSD says:

You do understand that what you said makes absolutely no sense and has zero basis in fact, right?

      • Hodge175 says:

        HAHAHA zig pow

      • Eric B says:

        LOL

      • Darkstar says:

“…what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. ”

“Okay, a simple “wrong” would’ve done just fine”

SSD, Thanks for the Billy Madison flashback. Haha

  17. lcon says:

Alpine =snow Multicam? Just in time for winter.

    • m5 says:

Perhaps, but that would be misleading naming. The backdrop of an alpine environment (usually) isn’t that much different from other open environments *when* snow covered. In snowless conditions, however, the color and pattern can be distinctive, and there are several ‘mountain’ camouflage patterns available already for snowless conditions.

  18. H.C. says:

Said some choice words when I saw this in excitment and now my commander knows I was not working… thanks for the updates SSD!

  19. m5 says:

US4CES. ADS, please followup and beat your competitors with the best(*) pattern.

(*) Just ask Cramer, and he’ll tell you this 😛

  20. bloke_from_ohio says:

I see a tactical vest and I want it painted black…

  21. 10thMountainMan says:

Can’t wait to see the Alpine and to argue with my wife about why I must have a set to prepare for the winter zompocalypse. The little joys of life abound.

  22. jjj0309 says:

    Hell, it’s about time.

  23. Invictus says:

Next year: Multicam Burberry, Multicam Tartan, Multicam Louis Vuitton…

  24. I see they are on the foot-heels of A-TACS now. What happened to one pattern for everything???? Not working out for you huh?

    • jack says:

There’s a huge difference between multi terrain as in multicam and universal as in UCP you know…

  25. SteveB says:

Oh geez golly I can’t wait! (said whilst rubbing my hands and bouncing up and down like Flounder from Animal House)

  26. Woody says:

The Alpine name makes me think of the old, red, Swiss Alpenflage.
I don’t think Crye would go that way with it, though.

  27. Davis says:

In case you guys can’t wait to see the multicam black – found it! Check this out:

    http://www.lapolicegear.com/truspec-trucombatshirt-multiblack.html

  28. Snake says:

Very much looking forward to the Woodland/Tropic Multicam, I always wondered how that would look since I always thought Multicam on its own was at best a transitional pattern that didn’t work everywhere despite working in many places.

Now, this has been a bit of an ironic moment for sure, one I get a kick out of for a few reasons:

1.) Everybody that jumped on the cool train and decked themselves out in multicam head to toe is gonna find it difficult to sell that “plain old multicam” stuff for a profit when those applicable want to replace it with the shiny new multicam pattern that better suits their AO/surroundings more than regular transitional multicam does.

2.) Mr. SSD droned on forever/ad nauseum about how multicam was the end-all-be-all perfect camo pattern for the army and how they didn’t need region specific camo color patterns and (summarily) “told ya so!” when the army formally adopted multicam as their pattern. When I found out about this, I couldn’t help but wonder how he reacted to the news of various region specifc multicam patterns coming out.

    • SSD says:

He’s known about this for quite some time and has encouraged Crye to release the patterns to the public. Apparently, you didn’t understand the argument against area specific patterns for an Army as large as ours. It is logistical in nature, not tactical.

  29. Will says:

So, let me get this straight. Multicam, is not so “multi” anymore? I get the alpine, which I’m assuming is mostly white. I’ve seen the black, and it’s pointless. But what about the Arid and Tropic? I mean, isn’t that what the Marine Corps already has, and what the military has had for 30 years? Woodland and Desert BDU’s anyone? I like Multicam simply because it works well in most environments. And coupled with coyote deuce gear, you can have one ensemble for most environments.

This all seems like a marketing gimmick to play of the of newfound Official Army pattern.

    • Explosive Hazard says:

Woodland and DCU are outdated patterns by todays standards, in the visible spectrum and NIR. Any modern military should move beyond those patterns. MARPAT, while a great pattern in visible (daylight) is an underperformer in the NIR. There are also better patterns than MARPAT in both arid and woodland that also perform better in NIR. You should browse the archives and read a lot of the stuff Guy Cramer has posted to get a better understanding of how we got to where we are today.

  30. JEFF says:

I guess they’ll show something at close of business today? Still waiting….

    • 10thMountainMan says:

My torch and pitchfork are at the ready…….

      • 65th Infantry GI jose says:

And I with my machete and bacardi rum bottle are right behind ya! Long live Crayola’s Brookwood Patterns! Hazzah!
