Grey Ghost Gear Armor Plates – Sneak Peak

This is a sneak peak from Grey Ghost Gear of their upcoming line of armor plates. We got a glimpse at the recent Darley Defense Days at Ft Bragg. Stay tuned for the full reveal soon.

Dalton, ID — 18 APR 14 — Grey Ghost Gear – The world is full of a$$holes. Once in a while one of them tries to kill you. Grey Ghost Gear wants to help you prepare for that possibility. We want to armor you against the a$$holes.

To do that we’ve partnered up with one of the best composite companies in the world to build affordable armor plates for responsible citizens. We’re going to have 3 models, initially, all as good or better than those in use by SOF overseas, all NIJ certified and all very lightweight (some as light as 1 lb). They will also be affordable – like, starting at $200 affordable. Protection levels will be III, III + and IV.

The new plates use cutting edge technology only recently developed while building armor for a specialized maritime unit. A very limited number of them are labeled appropriately.

“The worlds full of a$$holes,” says Grey Ghost Gear Director of Business Development Lindsey Lea. “Might as well prepare to deal with them. If you can legally carry a gun we see no reason you shouldn’t also wear armor if you want to.”

“The phrase on the front of the plate may seem flippant, but it’s not. These plates and our intention to put them in the hands of responsible citizens is a natural extension of the Grey Ghost Gear ethos. We are very excited to offer cutting edge ballistic protection, not just to the military and first responders, but the everyman.” – Casey Ingels, Grey Ghost Gear CEO.

Plates will be made available to military, LEOs and U.S. citizens with concealed carry permit (CCW/CHL, etc.) in good standing in their home state. The buyer’s state and local laws will apply.

Look for full technical specs, ordering procedures and additional information within the week – if you’re at the NRA show, come by and talk to GGG along with Tactical Tailor at Booth # 8148.

He pice point is nice. Thanks grey ghost. Might have to drive up the auburn to check them out.

  2. Trajan says:

GGG makes great stuff. Can’t wait to see full info.

  3. Another awesome product by Grey Ghost Gear. Keep up the momentum guys.

  4. Haji says:

They’d sell more without the wording on the front. No professional organization is going to allow that; why take yourself out of the market right off the bat for LE and contractor sales?

    • Philip says:

If it’s in a vest, who would see?

I bet they can be ordered without the wording.

    • Destro says:

even if it’s not policy, that plate is a no go for me I can’t be wearing something like that, even unseen in a carrier.

      • Justin says:

        Three words: black spray paint.

        • AdamG says:

Because everybody wants to mod something right after purchase when other options are available.

          • CR says:

It’s not really yours unless you have bled on it or Modified it.

            • Simeon says:

They are also sold without the “FRONT TOWARDS ASSHOLE” wording. The GGG website shows them as having a limited number for sale.

      • Stefan S. says:

Seems some people have been warped by PC that they are sensitive to things that may offend someone. A-hole is a polite term for human excrement!

    • mike says:

Out of the three plates in each picture I see one with the phrase. I’m willing to bet they are available without the wording.

    • GW says:

HEY HAJI, they are available in a Vanilla version as well. Thanks for the feedback.

      • Lindsey says:

That particular plate with the choice wording is a special edition we only made a few of. You have to specially request/order it. Otherwise, all plates will come with just the standard GG logo on the front. We know we have customers from all different walks of life and strive to provide products that appeal to all of them.

      • mike says:

The link SSD provided doesn’t have any plates shown. Is there somewhere we can go to see the plate options/pricing?

      • Bill says:

While I appreciate the sentiment, I definitely would have to go plain. Can you imagine a chief at a press conference holding that up and explaining how it saved someone’s life? Hilarious

  5. JEFFS says:

Any ETA on when these might be avail for sale?

  6. Sgt E says:

” A very limited number of them are labeled appropriately.”

That’s from the post, guys. Mike is clearly correct.

  7. Tim says:

So you wear these in your back pocket?

  8. Chris K. says:

Nice, the world does need less assholes. Pricing and Levels are very competitive.

  9. JM says:

Nicely done Lindsey, GW and Nate.

  10. Luke says:

very timely, I just spent the last few days combing the internet for light-weight plates. anything less then 4# and $400 a plate is a screaming deal.
they look double curved to me, I hope they are.

  11. Rei says:

how about regular citizens without CCW?
can we please have our protection too?
I bought my Velocity LVL IV from SKD and submitted some forms per their policy. Perhaps, GGG could do the same? If not, no problem getting from Velocity. Good CS.

  12. Fud says:

For responsible citizens? According to their standards- that excludes me. Not LE, no longer active duty, no ccw.

  13. Lindsey says:

The links should be live to view more specs, pricing and purchase options. Please contact us directly for questions regarding purchases without a CCW or active MIL/LE ID.
