SureFire – ProComp 556 Muzzle Brake

02

SureFire has just released their ProComp 556 muzzle brake. Designed for AR-15s with 1/2-28 muzzle threads, the ProComp reduces both recoil impulse and muzzle rise, with a patented Impulse Diffusion design that minimizes side blast and rear-directed concussion effects. It is machined from US mil-certified steel bar stock with a black Melonite finish that protects from harsh environmental conditions.

As you may have noticed, the ProComp duplicates the design of the SureFire SOCOM SFMB-556-1/2-28 muzzle brake, however it isn’t designed to mount SureFire SOCOM suppressors. Rather, the ProComp is a stand-alone device that functions solely as a muzzle brake. The trade off is a proven, reliable muzzle brake at a reduced cost.

Available at authorized SureFire dealers.

At less than $60, this’ll sell like hot cakes. A good product at a great price.

$59 bucks. Say hello to market share.

” that minimizes side blast ”

    yeah….right….

    • Tetsuo says:

LOL. Exactly. If it “duplicates” the design of the original 556K minus the the suppressor mounts, then side blast is anything but minimized. On a sliding scale of muzzle brake side blast, the 556K is one of (if not by far) the worst. Awesome if you’re the only person shooting, horrible for anyone abreast of you. Especially indoors. Great for competitions though.

  4. Garin Lee says:

It does effect the side blast in the means of the velocity (force) and distance the side blast will travel compared to other brakes. It doesn’t mean the side blast as a sound reduction but rather the force of the blast which is a concern to the shoot and others.

    “reliable muzzle brake”
Have you had many muzzle brakes break? Or not vent gases in the same direction every time?
