Looks a lot like the U.S. First Gen. LAV-25, before we upgraded our armor package and capabilities.
It’s a heavier design than the LAV 3/LAV-25. Originally the LAVs weighed in at around 17 tonnes. The VBCI is closer to 29 tonnes, with a heavier “up armored” versions having been tested, which come in a around 32 tonnes. While it lacks the amphibious capabilities of the LAV, the VBCI offers de facto better armour protection, due to it’s intended role as a true IFV, whereas the LAV was originally intended for armed reconnaissance. Urban counter-insurgency was never what is was really designed for, hence the need to upgrade the armor packages to face threats from IEDs and such.
