RE Factor – Combat Reference Guides

We’ve mentioned these in the past but they run out of stock as soon as we post an article. Looks like they are back. These stickers can be applied virtually anywhere and are great aides memoire for Medvac, Call for Fire and CAS Requests. There’s even a glow in the dark Medevac format.

Be warned the glow in the dark one has the wrong brevity codes, left them a message and never got a reply

Got the glow-in-the-dark MEDEVAC card free with an order, and it was ideal for my TCCC bag. I put it in the map pouch on the inside flap, and it was one less thing to have to worry about.

Call me crazy, but regardless of how many times I’ve called-in an 8-Line, I’m still more comfortable reading it than recalling it. Before that I just kept in in the last page of a 3-ring pre-flight check manual/binder. Now that I think of it, it could slide easily into one of those page pockets as well.

    They misspelled/used the wrong “Ordnance”.

Gotta include the MIST report format with the Med 9-line. They won’t launch without a MIST.

If you’re calling in CAS with a nine line off a sticker, chances are you’re not the JTAC… I think there should be bold lettering on lines 4,6 and 8. The pilot owns that bomb when you state “I am not a qualified JTAC”. He or she will force the important information out of you with the appropriate questions.

The Med 9 line sticker is a great idea. Everyone should know how to pass one as well as a “MIST”.

MIST is everything, we initiated every 9 nine line as “this is xxx, prepare to copy 9 line and MIST”. I won’t go into airstrikes, I think the nitty gritty exposes ROE possibly still in use, and garrett covered the common knowledge part.

Usually when we were working with the JTACs they told us just to say I’m not JTAC qualified if doing preplanned targets. If it’s a TIC. Just start screaming into the radio. That was from a third group JTAC. The man knew so much. But he said if lives are on the line do what you must to get bombs and arty on the ground. Just don’t do them together.
