Aimpoint has announced the addition of the Micro H-2 to their line of red dots sights. Improvements to the H-2 include a new sight housing which allows for:

– The addition of front and rear protective flip covers
– Additional physical protection for the sight’s adjustment turrets
– Increased ruggedness for the sights internal electronic components

The H-2 also features advanced optical lenses which allow for better light transmission, providing “a noticeable increase in the clarity and performance properties of the sight.”

“The Aimpoint Micro has become the worldwide standard for compact reflex sights” says Matt Swenson, Vice President of Sales. “With the sight’s new design, the Micro H-2 takes the level of performance available from a compact sight to an entirely new level.”

The Micro H-2 features an integrated Picatinny/Weaver mount for attachment to virtually any compatible rifle, shotgun, handgun, or crossbow. Additionally, it can operate up to 5 years of constant-on use on a single CR-2032 battery, and is waterproof.

The H-2 will be available for shipment in August 2015, and will be offered along the Micro H-1.

  1. Is it just me, but something about the lens cover on an optic that is supposed to be “micro” just doesn’t make much sense to me. I can see those things easily snapping off, hanging up on kit, etc.

Yep, and you know what happens if they snap off or break? You’re left with no lens covers… just like the original. I’m pretty sure it’ll still work and then you won’t have to worry about them snapping off or breaking anymore!

Of course, the flip covers are miles faster than the rubber bikini cover it comes with and still faster than the I/O cover as well.

It’s just you. There was a project called the IO Cover that was initially produced as the result of a massive crowdfunding campaign, before it was picked up by TangoDown.

A see-through lens cap on a red dot is like a sacrificial lens on an NVD…protect your investment, homie.

Ugh. I’m fine with an H2 but WHY NOT make the writing in gray vs white?!? If these don’t sell for more than $50 less than the T2 I’ll pay extra to not have the white billboard even though I don’t want NV.

    • Bill says:

I’ve heard some people use them for writing, but I thought black Sharpies were for touching up shiny spots on gear

    • mike says:

There will be more than $50 difference. The branding is part of it; if you need it to be sleek and stealthy that’s a military feature and will cost you extra 😉

Sharpies, spraypaint, and even various *coats will do the job for less than the difference if you are set against a T2.

      • Joe Flowers says:

Yeah, I’ll definitely get it cerakoted. I had a T2 for awhile and loved it. Though I also got a solar-battery powered holosun that has a 2MOA dot AND an EOTECH-like 65-circle with a 2MOA dot, and it’s great at 50Y to 100Y (but at 25Y the parallax makes it shoot 2″ left of POA).

It’s nice and all but my H2 with the Tango Down IO cover is working just fine. I like being able to snap the covers together and they’re out of the way for the most part. Someone was saying that they didn’t like the IO because the covers are in his line of sight. If those are used open than they’ll really be in the way, wouldn’t bother me. I thinkI’ll stick with my older H2 with IOcover for now.
I hope that the rail mount can be removed on those so regular micro mounts can be used. I love mine on my LaRue.
