The Liberty Jump Team is a commemorative parachute team honoring WWII heroes and Veterans of all Wars and Foreign Conflicts. Their jumps commemorate the D-Day invasion and the liberation of Europe as well as perpetuating the service of those who have served after, including today’s brave men and women.
The Liberty Jump team recruits from active and inactive military parachutists with an in-house jump training operations and school located in Bristow, Oklahoma. They use a C-47 as a jump platform and have conducted airborne operations all over the US as well as in Amfreville, Carentan, Liesville Sur Douve, Angoville au Plain France as well jumps commemorating Bastogne and Holland.
This video is a compilation of clips shot in France, Holland, Fort Benning Georgia, and Geneseo New York featuring the Liberty Jump Team and the 1941 Historical Aircraft Group.

Operation Hat Trick

Operation Hat Trick came about in 2007 when organizers at UNH heard a Boston radio broadcast that challenged listeners to guess what soldiers with head injuries most often asked for upon their return to the United States. The answer was simple…Hats.
From the beginning UNH Senior Associate Athletic Director Dot Sheehan knew this program was meant to be bigger than UNH. “Not in a million years would I have thought that this program could or would grow to this point but when a severely burned soldier told me I made him feel almost ‘normal’ by giving him a hat that covered his burns, I knew that OHT was destined for great things.†Now the national program features three designs and each school can elect to sell one, two or all three styles produced by collegiate headwear manufacturer ’47 Brand. The three styles adjustable camouflage and team color versions as well as a stretch fit style in team color— feature the Operation Hat Trick logo as well as the logo of the school. “I am grateful to Collegiate Licensing Company, UNH’s licensing representative, for bringing this program to the national stage,†Sheehan said.
Now, almost five years later, Operation Hat Trick has gone national with more than 30 colleges and universities around the country selling hats to help support the recovery of wounded soldiers and veterans through the VA General Post Fund. Encourage your college or university to participate in this great charity.

Lions in Winter – One Impressive Picture
Sunday, February 12th, 2012LTG Hal Moore, SGM Basil Plumley and Joseph Galloway rendering honors at a ceremony at Ft Benning, dedicating a statue to Lt Rick Rescorla. A Lieutenant during the Battle of Ia Drang, Rescorla rose to the rank of Colonel in the Army Reserves. Unfortunately, he died while working to save people in the south World Trade Center tower on 9/11/01.
I find this somber yet inspirational at the same time.
Not that I have anything against the movie, but if you haven’t read Mr Galloway’s classic We Were Soldiers Once and Young, you really really should. Thank you Mr Galloway for your picture, thank all four of you for everything.

Magnum USA Sponsors Team 5 Foundation
Saturday, February 4th, 2012Even though they just met at SHOT Show, it was love at first sight for Magnum USA and Team 5 Foundation. Magnum saw right away the good works being done by Team 5 and decided to sponsor their trip beginning this weekend, to bring modern medical services to a remote region of Guatemala. The goal is to provide as much medical care as possible to 12,000 Mayan villagers in a region of 35 villages. An ultrasound has been donated for the mission, and other team equipment, like boots, jackets, shirts and pants, have been donated by Magnum Boots USA.
Team 5 Foundation is a medical mission organization that brings western medicine and education to developing countries. It is comprised of US veterans, many of whom served overseas in Special Forces. They not only provide medical services, but have also designed a program to teach local healthcare workers emergency response in a remote area, as well as emergency childbirth.
“This Guatemala mission is focused on the high maternal death rate, which is approximately 29 deaths per 30 calendar days,†said Eric Linder, RMP, co-founder of Team 5 Foundation. “We are educating them in western style medicine, certifying them and giving them hands on experience in clinic. Our goal is to reduce the deaths, bring awareness and leave equipment in the villages.â€
The team will be also provide future support for Guatemala twice a year to keep the standards in place, in addition to helping other underserved destinations around the globe.
“When we met Team 5 for the first time a few short weeks ago at SHOT Show 2012, we knew instantly that we wanted to help support their incredible efforts,†said Alexis Nascimento, Magnum USA’s public relations manager. “After many years of sacrifice and service to our country, it’s inspiring to see how dedicated this team is to selflessly helping others in this capacity. We wish Team 5 safe travels and a successful mission.â€
It should be noted that several companies have manned up and are sponsoring this philanthropic pursuit. Hats off to all involved.
