The .44 Auto Mag has reached mythical status in the gun culture even though only about 9,000 were built over just a dozen or so years of production. The pistol was manufactured by several companies during the 70s and early 80s, flipflopping due to management issues with the last gun being assembled in 1982. But now, Auto Mag, Ltd of Florence, SC has acquired the rights and is set to begin manufacturing of the Auto Mag X.
Like I said, it’s reached mythical status, most likely because of its appearance in Dirty Harry’s ‘Sudden Impact’ installment. It sure made for good cinema, but the Automag is also familar to Mack Bolan fans.
