Late last week I received this from a longtime friend and industry member named Angie. It is about her father, Fred. He is a great American, and a true hero. His life’s work doesn’t pivot on just one day and one act. In fact, I don’t think we’ll ever here an inkling of the things he has done. He has a lifetime of doing great things. His daughter thinks so too. She’s very proud of her dad and rightly so. Today is Fathers Day and I can’t think of a more fitting tribute to dads out there than publishing this story about Fred Arooji and how he was recently honored by the SOF community by being awarded the Bull Simons Award. We all strive to be a hero in our kids’ eyes. Here’s a man who is a hero in every sense of the word.

Take a few minutes to read this excerpt from the June, 2013 issue of “Tip of the Spear” to get a small taste of the man that is CW5 Fred Arooji (USA, Ret). And, if you don’t know who COL Arthur ‘Bull” Simons is either, I’ve included a little about him.
