SIG SAUER - Never Settle

Sneak Peak – SureFire X300U In Desert Tan

You’ve heard the rumors and here it is.

Sneak Peak X300U Desert Tan

During a recent visit to SureFire we picked up a sample of the new X300U in Desert Tan, now in production. Limited to just 500 units the U-Boat model of the popular pistol light offers 500 lumens of illumination. Available later this month.

  1. FWIW, I find 500 lumens to be, literally, too much intensity for room/house clearing purposes. I know the flashlight companies continue to try to outdo each other with high intensity output, but I prefer 200 lumens, at most, for any kind of HD environment.

Then a standard X300 is for you.

And good luck finding one, considering most major places (ie, with good prices that are reputable) no longer carry it. I recently tried to get an X300 and gave up and got the X300 Ultra since it was next to impossible to find the older one.

Agreed. Impossible to find. Many retailers list it as discontinued. I switched to Streamlight exclusively. I always preferred that switch anyway. I’d like to see a more robust, brighter InForce APL.

Check out our “On Sale” tab 🙂

Are these actually x300? Like many online retailers, you have x300 listed but show the x300u on the item photo as indicated by the beveled bezel and increased size.

Paul, why would you limit your capability? Why do you think anything more than 200L is too much?. Have you ever heard of a technique called “Optical dimensional processing”? If you haven’t you should check out some training in white light employment. 200L is the bottom rung of the ladder, more lumens means more capability and visible range, it increases your peripheral light cone, blinds the threat longer and makes it easier to optically dimensional process.

      • Eric B says:

I, for one, have not heard of “Optical dimensional processing” techniques. Can you expound or perhaps provide a link if the explanation is too cumbersome for this thread? Thanks

Would be nice to see some X400U green dots in tan too.

    Just sayin’.

Why are these limited editions? Its not like FDE is an unpopular color for equipment.

  4. CRH says:

Oh Surefire…. why does it always take 4 or 5 years for you to listen to end users and to execute new products…better late than never i suppose….

    • SSD says:

      How is it late?

      • mike says:

it’s almost like people who “need” tan forgot how to use spraypaint in the meantime.

      • CRH says:

Lets just say I have a lot of friends that used to work at surefire and I know for a fact that all the new stuff they have been releasing is 4-5 years old. For example a PEQ 16 lamp retro fit kit. A line of FDE and OD weapon lights and hand held lights, Mini scout vampire, X400 vampire, Mini Defender…etc. Some companies just can’t get out of their own way sometimes and Surefire is one of them. They make awesome products, but they lay off their talented people, alienate their dealers, ignore end user input and they have awful customer service. Damn shame really.

        • SSD says:

Lots has been done to turn things around internally. As for the “old designs”, one of the reasons things don’t hit the market super fast is because Dr Matthews will want to upgrade this or that in the product and it gets delayed while new technologies are inserted in a light. That, and you have to pace yourself.

        • mike says:

from an alienated dealer standpoint I say +1, but I am cautiously optimistic for the changes in store from recent staffing decisions.

I have been associated with SureFire for going on 6 years now. They have had some low points over the last few years for sure, but as “mike” hints at, things are definitely moving in a very good direction now!
