Rocky Introduces the S2V Jungle Boot

Fans of Rocky’s S2V series of boots will be pleased to hear that they have formally introduced the Jungle Boot. They worked with a military unit to combine the basic S2V styling with features for use in the constantly wet environment of the tropics. It is an unlined boot with a toe covered in “snail snot” to protect the rough out leather Cordura from the wear and tear of wait-a-minute vines. Additionally, the sides are generously vented with holes punched into the leather and backed by a stainless steel mesh to protect the ankles from thorns. The upper is made from a combination of Cordura and rough out leather.

“We teamed up with some of world’s best soldiers to develop the highest performing, most breathable jungle boot on the market,” said Steve Graham, marketing manager for ROCKY Duty. “As our customers attest, nothing but the finest material goes into the S2V, which guarantees performance you can count on.”

The S2V Jungle Boot is Berry compliant and will be available at retail by fall 2011.

That’s a good looking boot. Any idea on the price range?

  2. straps says:

ACU-legal color scheme or strictly for highly permissive environments/”special” peeps?

  3. Stuart Neilson says:

The leg and main body of the boot looks like canvas but the description mentions “toe covered in “snail snot” to protect the rough out leather”. Are the canvas looking bits leather? Wots ‘snail snot’? (I’m guessing a rubber compound applied as a jelly or liquid and dried in place but I don’t know and Google didn’t help)

Snail snot is a rubberized coating to protect the Cordura on the toe from getting chewed up by vines. Sorry about the confusion, I write up to 6 articles per day and make a faux pas every once in awhile. The upper is made from a combo of Cordura and rough out leather. As you can see, much of it is Cordura and the ankle supports are leather. If you open the photo up you can see the ventilation holes and the stainless steel mesh that is sandwiched into place.

These aren’t on the site yet. Not sure on price as these were JUST announced.

Looks like a military version of Converse Chuck Taylor. I don’t think fabric will support your ankles like proper leather.

@panzerhund I don’t think this particular boot is on the site yet. Lots similar but none with an entirely Cordura forefoot.

@Stuart if you look closely at the toe there appears to be an impregnated or laminated material. Might be the gorilla snot they’re referring to–in which the copy was written by someone NOT hired for her product knowledge, because it says something about protecting the leather from vines. LOL news flash marketing people get stuff like this wrong ALL the time in pre-release copy.

Far as price, most US-made Rockys have been coming in at 2 bills, though people in “the trade” often have access to bettter schedules (which is the only way I’d consider these–every other good boot manufacturer has a purchasing program).

  7. Aaron says:

Damn…I didn’t even notice the Cordura forefoot looking at it the first time this afternoon…craziness.

  8. Mike Honcho says:

Is there any info as far as what colors these will be purchased in? I’m stuck with Sage Green because my senior leaders hate me and have no respect for me, ie USAF.
